Problem: GlobalStar? modem on B2 only connects during calmer seas. Patch antenna that was spec'd for us is best for land applications. There is a marine model "stick" that should be better for the rougher seas and buoy application. However it requires a adaptation since the antenna is taller than the low-profile puck originally installed.
- order 2 marine models
If the marine-model antenna does not fit inside canister:
- drill holes on canister lid for antenna cable pass-throughs
- mount antenna on poll or on plastic shelf with radiometers
- make a longer canister and mount inside
I doubt we want to mount the antenna on top of the GlobalStar? canister as it will compromise how sealed to elements it is.
We have opted for the third option. See ticket:58.
